Hailed by The New York Concert Review as “a magnificent artist and poet“, pianist Amy Yang is a seasoned soloist, chamber musician, and pedagogue. Recent engagements include workshopping Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 in C Major, K. 476, as part of the Mitsuko Uchida Workshop at Carnegie Hall, soloing with Penn Symphony Orchestra under Thomas Hong, returning to Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Gardner Museum, Phillips Collection, Rockefeller University, Kimmel Center, Dame Myra Hess Series, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society; collaborations with Aizuri String Quartet and members of the Daedalus String Quartet.

Upcoming engagements include performing with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and Patricia Kopatchinskaya, rehearsing with the National Youth Orchestra of USA with Jim Ross, soloing with the Tuscaloosa Symphony under Adam Flatt, performing with the Dover Quartet at Stude Concert Hall, performing at the Chelsea Music Festival, Trentino Music Festival (Italy), Newburyport Chamber Music Festival, Curtis Summerfest, and Twickenham Fest, and performing on the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society series and 60th anniversary Schneider Concert Series at The New School.

She attributes her growth to the teaching of Claude Frank, Peter Frankl, Robert McDonald, Timothy Hester and to collaborating with artists Mitsuko Uchida, Richard Goode, the Guarneri String Quartet members, Ida Kavafian, Miriam Fried, David Shifrin, Kim Kashkashian, Daniel Druckman, Markus Rhoten, Thomas Sauer, Joseph Lin, Roberto Díaz, Marina Piccinini and countless others.

Major engagements include soloing with Houston Symphony, University of Massachusetts Orchestra, Corpus Christi Symphony, Connecticut Virtuosi Orchestra, collaborating with Jasper, Amphion, and Aizuri String Quartets, premiering music by Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw, Avner Dorman, Ezra Laderman and appearing at Marlboro Music Festival, Ravinia Festival, Prussia Cove Masterclasses, Verbier Academy, Chamber Music Northwest, Salt Bay Chamberfest, Music from Angel Fire, Music in May, Chelsea Music Festival, Twickenham Fest, Newburyport Chamber Music Festival, and Caramoor.

During the school year, she serves as Chamber Music Mentor at Curtis Institute of Music. During the summer months of Curtis Summerfest, she is the Program Director and piano faculty for its Young Artist Summer Program and piano faculty for the Chamber Music and Orchestra for Adults program. She will be teaching at these two programs and at Music Academy International (Dolomites, Italy) in 2016. She is also a Chamber Music Coach at The University of Pennsylvania.

As a juror, she has judged the Bravura Philharmonic Concerto Competition, Temple University Concerto Competition, NJMTA’s Masterclass Competition, CCC Toronto Piano Competition, and the Marian Garcia Competitions at PSU.

Her discography includes a solo CD in the works, a CD with violinist Tessa Lark and producer Judith Sherman, a CD with clarinetist Jose Franch-Ballester on the iTinerant label, and solo works by Ezra Laderman to be released on Albany Records.

Ms. Yang is an alumna of Curtis Institute of Music, Juilliard School, and Yale School of Music, where she received the Parisot Award for an Outstanding Pianist and the Alumni Association Prize.
